Alzheimer’s Association raises funds and raises awareness of the disease with walk in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WXIX) – The Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease in Butler, Warren and Clinton counties on Saturday morning.

Organizers of the walk say the goal is to help raise awareness and fund $ 170,000 for research into Alzheimer’s disease.

The walk will begin at Square at Union Center located at 9285 Center Pointe Drive in West Chester at 10 a.m.

Pre-walk activities will begin at 8:30 am The Garden of Promise ceremony, in which participants will lift different colored pinwheel flowers and share their stories, will take place at 9:40 am.

Participants can join in person or walk around their neighborhood.

The organizers have security protocols in place, including contactless check-in, social distancing, and more. All participants should be vaccinated or wear a mask when in a crowded area. Masks will be available on site.

The Walk is the world’s largest Alzheimer’s disease fundraising event.

Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Registration is still available online. The organizers ask participants to make a donation.
